Last updated: 1 July 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using LEGALBOOKS AI, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the platform. Your continued use of LEGALBOOKS AI constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use LEGALBOOKS AI only for lawful purposes and in accordance with all applicable Australian laws and regulations. You must not:

  • Use the platform to store, process, or transmit any unlawful, fraudulent, or misleading financial records.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data, the platform's systems, or any third-party systems.
  • Use the platform in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the service.
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any law firm or legal practitioner.
  • Use AI-generated outputs without human verification for tax lodgement or client billing.

3. Service Description

LEGALBOOKS AI provides AI-assisted bookkeeping, trust accounting, time billing, invoice management, BAS preparation, payroll management, and monthly reporting tools for Australian law firms. The platform is a record-keeping and automation tool and does not constitute legal, tax, or financial advice.

4. Important Disclaimers

Not Tax or Legal Advice: LEGALBOOKS AI provides bookkeeping tools and summaries. It does not constitute tax or legal advice. Users should consult a registered BAS Agent or Tax Agent before lodging BAS or tax returns.

Trust Account Record-Keeping: LEGALBOOKS AI assists trust-account record keeping and reconciliation; the firm remains responsible for state rules, audits and professional review. Trust account management is regulated under the Legal Profession Act and your state's Law Society.

Payroll / STP2: LEGALBOOKS AI generates payroll calculations and payslips for your records. Single Touch Payroll (STP2) reporting to the ATO must be completed through an STP2-compliant solution or your registered tax agent.

AI Limitations: AI-generated data extraction and insights are suggestions and must be verified by a qualified human. Users are responsible for the accuracy of all financial records.

Client Data Confidentiality: This tool manages financial and billing records only and is not a practice management system for legal documents.

5. Subscriptions & 7-Day Free Trial

All new accounts begin with a 7-day free trial — no credit card required. During the trial period, you have full access to all platform features. The trial expires automatically after 7 days unless you select a subscription plan and complete payment. There is no permanent free plan.

Trial terms:

  • The trial is limited to one per firm or user.
  • At the end of the 7-day trial, access to premium features is suspended until a subscription is selected.
  • Data entered during the trial is retained and accessible once a subscription is active — no data is lost.
  • You may subscribe at any time during or after the trial.

6. Billing Terms

All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly billing cycle until cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time through Settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Plans: Starter $199/mo, Professional $399/mo, Managed $599/mo, Enterprise $999/mo. All plans are billed monthly. Late or failed payments may result in suspension of access. Refunds are issued at our discretion in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.

7. Data Ownership

You retain ownership of all data you input, including financial records, trust transactions, and client information. We do not claim any rights to your data beyond what is necessary to provide the service. You may export or delete your data at any time.

8. Intellectual Property

LEGALBOOKS AI, including its software, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of C.S. Walker and is protected by Australian and international copyright laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the platform. You retain all intellectual property rights to the data you input.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, our liability is limited to the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding any claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for losses arising from reliance on AI-generated data without human verification, incorrect trust account management, or failure to lodge BAS or STP2 reports through a registered agent.

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed subject to the minimum retention period required by Australian law (5 years for financial records, 7 years for trust account records). We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.

11. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms will be resolved as follows:

  • First, the parties will attempt to resolve the dispute through good-faith negotiation within 30 days of written notice.
  • If unresolved, the dispute will be submitted to mediation under the rules of a recognised Australian mediation body.
  • If mediation fails, the dispute will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email. Continued use of LEGALBOOKS AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
